God created us in his image. A significant signature element of that image includes a desire for freedom. True freedom can only come from the proper relationship with Jesus Christ. When that is suppressed there arises various psychological and social imbalances. Paulo Freire, in his book Pedagogy of the Oppressed, addresses these imbalances, albeit from a humanistic perspective. By tweaking his work to include the presence of God we are able to apply it into the area of ecclesiastical suppression. Within that framework, it becomes powerfully enlightening.

Not wanting to fracture the logical flow of Freire’s work, I have followed it exactly in the same order and manner in which written. If you purchase his work, you can easily follow along and see where it has been applied to the issue of preeminent suppression within the church.
